An All Progressives Congress, APC, chieftain Saddam Dandy, alongside 1,600 party supporters have dumped their party for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Birshi Gandu ward in Bauchi state.

Dandy said their decision to defect to the PDP was informed by the lack of internal democracy in APC, especially the imposition of unpopular candidates even where elections did not hold.

” Due to injustice and impunity, we have decided to leave APC today for PDP being our home and we regret joining the ruling party initially. However, part of why we defect to PDP is that APC imposed candidates in the place of primary elections through out the state,” he said.

Dandy called on Nigerians not to vote for President Muhammadu Buhari as a demonstration of their resolve to salvage the country from injustice, poverty and the doldrums.

He maintained that it will be disastrous and a disservice to the country to vote for the APC in 2019 after the party has failed citizens.

Receiving the decampees on behalf of the state PDP chairman, Danturawan Dass described the decision of the defectors as timely and was targeted at unseating the ruling party.

He assured that the decampees will be treated with equity and fairness, saying that the PDP was ready to receive more defectors ahead of 2019

” Today, we are in a celebration mode in Birshi ward in Bauchi metropolis with the defection of this crowd to the PDP and we assure them of decent treatment,” Dass said.
