Carabao Cup: Derby County dump Manchester United out, Man City hammer Oxford

Manchester United have been eliminated from this season’s Carabao Cup, after losing 8-7 on penalties to Derby County on Tuesday night.

Jose Mourinho’s men were looking to bounce back from their 1-1 draw against Wolves last weekend and took an early lead through Juan Mata.

But Derby equalized through Harry Wilson and took the lead through Jack Marriott, after Sergio Romero was sent off for the hosts.

Marouane Fellaini made it 2-2 with the last kick of the match.

Phil Jones missed from 12 yards in the shoot-out, as Frank Lampard got one over his former boss.

Manchester City hammered Oxford United 3-0 at Kassam Stadium, in another third-round fixture played on Tuesday.
