2019 presidency: Shehu Sani reacts to US Institute’s prediction

The Senator representing Kaduna Central at the National Assembly, Shehu Sani, has reacted to prediction by the United States Institute of Peace, USIP, that the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Muhammadu Buhari may win the 2019 presidential election.

USIP had stated this in a report it published on the forthcoming general election in Nigeria.

The report had also report claimed that having peaceful election in Nigeria will depend on the performance of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

USIP said that although Buhari and the APC had not met the expectations of many Nigerians, it will not cost them their victory.

But reacting, Sani wondered why the institute will abandon its job of working for peace in trouble areas in Nigeria to now predicting winner of election.

The lawmaker tweeted “US peace institute should help in working for peace in our troubled spots or ‘predicting peace’ in our crisis ridden towns and villages, instead of playing the soothsayer by predicting election results.”

He advised the institute to focus on its job instead of playing the soothsayer.
