EPL: Hazard names ‘best’ defender he ever played against in his career

Chelsea star, Eden Hazard, has named Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk, as the ‘best’ defender he has ever played against in his career.

The Belgium international said this ahead of his side’s away Premier League clash against Southampton on Sunday afternoon.

Hazard believes that Van Dijk can only get better as he gets older.

Asked about the best defender he’s ever played against, Hazard was quoted by LiverpoolOffside as saying: “Virgil van Dijk, since last year is one of the best in the world for sure.

“To play against him last Saturday, I can tell he is one of the best and he’s still young also.”

Virgil van Dijk did not feature in his side’s Carabao Cup clash against Chelsea, but did feature for full 90 minutes for his side’s 1-1 draw against the Blues in the Premier League last weekend.

The Dutch center-back, however, is expected to start for Liverpool when they take on Premier League champions, Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday evening.
