Makinde promises to restore LAUTECH’s glory
Oyo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant, Seyi Makinde has asked the people of the state to hold accountable to his promise to return the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Ogbomoso to its past glory within 18 months of his administration.
In a statement issued by the Seyi Makinde Organisation and signed by Prince Dotun Oyelade, the governorship hopeful said the death of the institution was politically induced, adding that he has the documents that misled the Supreme Court from ceding the university to Oyo State in 2010.He said apart from being a cradle of knowledge and recognised globally before the politically induced challenges, LAUTECH served as a foremost commercial concern in Ogbomoso that boosted the industry of indigenes and residents alike.
Makinde added that a permanent solution must be found to stabilise the over 50, 000 students and 1.200 staff capacity tertiary institution.On his plans for the Oke Ogun area, Makinde said a strategic proportion of the Ministry of Agriculture will relocate to Oke Ogun and Ibarapa to actualise and monitor government plans for their food and cash crop potentials, while he will consolidate infrastructure in Ibadan and Oyo areas.
