Governorship aspirant of the Oyo State Alliance for Democracy (AD), Oyedele Hakeem Alao, has emerged the party’s candidate for the 2019 elections.

In the party’s primaries held in Ibadan, Alao was unanimously elected after his rival failed show up for the election.

Addressing newsmen after the primaries, Alao thanked the delegates, party leaders and members for finding him worthy of flying its ticket for the 2019 governorship poll in Oyo State.

“On behalf of the leadership of our party, I accept this victory and I assure our members a great outing in the 2019 elections,” he said.

Candidates for state and National Assembly positions were also ratified, among whom are Mutiu Mosaderin and Sunday Olumuyiwa Adewale, who emerged candidates for Ibadan Northeast Constituency II and Oyo Central senatorial district respectively.

Meanwhile, crisis has edin Cross River State All Progressives Congress (APC) as two governorship candidates emerged from the just concluded primaries in the state.

Consequently, the party is running two parallel executives, one headed by Etim John drawing its strength from the Abuja High Court, while the National Executive recognised faction is headed by Dr. Matthew Achigbe.

While the John faction produced Minister of the Niger Delta, Usani Uguru Usani as the governorship candidate, the Achigbe group returned John Owan-Enoh as its candidate. They are both from the central senatorial district.

Announcing the results of the John faction in Calabar on Monday, Chairman of the Election Committee, Emmanuel Annom, said Usani won with 4,7313 votes in the primary election.

Giving a breakdown of the results, he said Usani’s closest rival, John Owan-Enoh scored 1, 486 votes, while Eyo Etim Nyong polled 1, 168 votes, John Ukpan Odey scored 1,099 votes, while former Minister of Tourism, Edem Duke, scored 1, 322 votes.
